The Harry Potter Spells Book Tag!

Hello Everyone!

I am currently stuck in bed battling the flu and I have lost my voice, therefore I figured I would so something fun to make myself feel somewhat better. Basically something to keep me from feeling sorry for myself for a little while. So I scoured the internet looking for fun book tags to do and I came across the The Harry Potter Spell Book Tag! Now I sadly do not know who came up with this tag, but all credit goes to them for their creative genius.

If you are unfamiliar with this tag then it is basically a series of spells from the Harry Potter Book Series created by J.K Rowling (Queen). Each spell then has a question attached to it and you must select a book of your choosing which you think fits best with the spell. FUN right?! Ok let’s get started…

A childhood book connected to good memories.

I decided to go way back for this one by choosing 101 Dalmations by Walt Disney, the original book was published in 1956 by author Dodie Smith however the book I consistently read as a child was the Disney Version. I was born in 1994 and I used to adore reading this book and watching the animation, Disney was a major part of my childhood and in 1996 Disney released a live action version of the book starring Glenn Close and Hugh Laurie. I lost track of how many times I’ve watched these films and read the book growing up.

One day I must own a Dalmation!

A book that took you by surprise.

Hopeless by Colleen Hoover features some serious shocks, the ending really took me by surprise and it was an emotional rollercoaster. I’m not going to be a spoiler sue and tell you what happens but this book contains some serious deep issues within its content.

I haven’t read a Colleen Hoover book which I haven’t loved yet, I don’t think I ever will…

 

 

 

 

The last book you read.

The last book I read was a New Adult Romance on my kindle and it was My Favourite Mistake by Chelsea Cameron. I have a full review  Here. As you may know I wasn’t really a fan of it resulting in 2 stars out of 5.

 

 

 

 

 

 

A book that introduced you to a genre you hadn’t experienced before.

 

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith aka J.K Rowling… Prior to reading this I had never read a Crime Fiction book before however I was such a fan of the twists of this one that I immediately had to order the next two, even though their still sat waiting to be read. [i’ll read them I promise]

 

 

 

A funny book you’ve read

 Me Before You by JoJo Moyes–

Now you’re probably thinking  Me Before You?      Has this gone crazy, that book is so sad? I agree- but whilst it was really sad it was also really funny. I found myself laughing one minute and crying the next.

JoJo Moyes is truly a brilliant author.

 

 

 

 

 

A book that you think everybody should know/read

I think everybody should read Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman at least once in their life. Its an absolutely brilliant book with hard hitting content with its feature of racism. It’s an extremely well written and powerful story.

 

 

 

 

 

A book or spoiler you wish you never read or heard

Spoiler-

My friend is the biggest spoiler sue in the world, she revealed the ending of Allegiant to me despite having just discussed how I had bought the series to start reading them for myself (this was just as the first movie was being released so in 2014). Because of that I never bothered to read the books.

I still want to but I still can’t get over starting a series knowing how it’s going to end, it sucks.

 

 

A book you had to read for school

 

My choice for ‘Imperio’ is The Great Gatsby by F.Scott Fitzgerald, I remember having to read this in Sixth Form at school and up until this point I was not a fan of classics. I steered clear of them because I couldn’t cope with the old style english and what felt like overly descriptive narrative. Until my English Teacher made us read The Great Gatsby, which as you may know is my absolute favourite classic as it transformed my views on classic literature too.

It’s such a wonderful tragic love story.

 

 

A book that was painful to read

Some people absolutely adore this book, me? Not a fan, I really struggled to get into it and finish it and that’s The Catcher in the Rye by J.D Salinger.

To me nothing happened whats so ever, I always hoped it was more exciting. I did notice the nods towards teenage rebellion and mental health but this really wasn’t for me.

 

 

 

 

A book that could kill you (emotionally for me)

I couldn’t decide which book to include for ‘Avada Kedavra’, so I thought why not include both?! Me Before You by JoJo Moyes and The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, absolutely killed me. I was an emotional wreck reading them, immediately after finishing the book. In -fact I felt emotional for a few days after especially if I saw the trailer for the film. They are both brilliantly written and wonderful stories. Books that could change your life and make you fall in love with reading again.
