Movie Madness

This post is inspired by Kat Impossible who runs the wonderful blog Life and Other Disasters where every week she incorporates a post on new trailers that have been recently released, it is here I find the new trailers I have yet to see pop up on my Youtube homepage and she is the reason I find so many great films I want to watch. Therefore this post is dedicated to ‘Movie Madness’ which I may make into a regular feature where I will be talking about 5 trailers I have seen recently for movies that have left me with a burning desire to watch them as soon as possible. These 5 trailers could be for upcoming movie releases, recent or even for movies already out. So without further ado here are the 5 trailers for this week…
The Danish Girl
Drama | Eddie Redmayne | Alicia Vikander

‘The remarkable love story inspired by the lives of artists Lili Elbe and Gerda Wegener. Lili and Gerda’s marriage and work evolve as they navigate Lili’s groundbreaking journey as a transgender pioneer.’
Thoughts: I finally decided to give the Trailer for The Danish Girl a chance after watching The Oscars 2016, Alicia Vikander won the category of Best Supporting Actress and I realised I had always skipped passed the trailer when it came on my screen and I really needed to give it a chance. I found the trailer to begin to incite emotions from me just within the 2 minute trailer alone and I think this is a film I will actually really enjoy with it being based on a true story.

Room
Drama | Brie Larson | Jacob Tremblay

‘Held captive for years in an enclosed space, a woman and her 5-year-old son finally gain their freedom, allowing the boy to experience the outside world for the first time’
Thoughts: Similarly to The Danish Girl, after watching The Oscars and witnessing Brie Larson win her award for Best Actress for this movie I watched the Trailer immediately and it made me cry, just from the 2 minutes of the trailer as you could see the heart-breaking story this movie will take you through. This movie is based on the bestselling novel by Emma Donoghue also titled ‘Room’, after reading an array of reviews [all giving the movie high star ratings] it’s safe to say I’m looking forward to this one.

SUFFRAGETTE
Historical Drama | Helena Bonham Carter | Meryl Streep | Carey Mulligan

‘SUFFRAGETTE is the first ever feature film to tell the inspirational story of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement who risked everything in the fight for equality’

Thoughts: SUFFRAGETTE is actually a movie that was recommended to me by my best-friend, I hadn’t seen the trailer anywhere prior to her watching the movie herself which I was rather shocked about. I would have expected to have seen it on the internet or television somewhere, but I’ve always been curious and interested into the story of the SUFFRAGETTES and I’m really looking forward to seeing how this movie depicts that story and the age in which these strong women were living in and fighting for our equal rights. (Does it make me terrible that I do not know the full expansive history of the New Women and the Suffragette Movement? – We were never taught this at school but it is something I’ve been interested in and I am going to research more in-depth)

Brooklyn
Historical Drama | Saoirse Ronan | Emory Cohen | Domhnall Gleeson

‘An Irish immigrant (Saoirse Ronan) in 1950s New York falls for a tough Italian plumber (Emory Cohen), but faces temptation from another man (Domhnall Gleeson) when she returns to her homeland for a visit’
Thoughts: I have watched the trailer for Brooklyn a number of times and I still haven’t gotten around to watching it [Kicking myself]. I adore Saoirse Ronan, I think she is a wonderfully talented actress and finally a movie in which she can use her lovely Irish Accent! I’m looking forward to Brooklyn as the trailer depicts the premise of a love triangle as Saoirse’s character must return back home to Ireland after moving to America in the hopes of a better life and who doesn’t love a good love triangle element. The fact that this movie is set in 1950’s New York is also what is making this movie appeal so much to me, I have always been drawn to the clothes and style of this moment in history. Finally the concept of the movie itself is really intriguing and I’m looking forward to how the movie portrays Saoirse’s character first arriving in New York and if it tackles her feeling like an outsider in anyway alongside the romantic elements.

Me Before You
Romantic Drama | Emilia Clarke | Sam Claflin
‘Young and quirky Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke) moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will’s cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living. As their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined’

Thoughts: Last but certainly not least, Me Before You.
Ah I have been recommended the book by JoJo Moyes a number of times and I placed it on my TBR pile and never thought of it again, until Christmas when I bought my mum the book to see if she would get round to reading it faster than me and inspire me to finally pick it up…She didn’t! But I am inspired to read the book prior to this movie release as the story looks both beautiful and heart-breaking.
In terms of casting I have to say I think they have done a tremendous job by hiring Emilia Clarke and Sam Claflin for the two main protagonists. Individually they are both wonderfully talented actors but together, from what I can sense from the trailer and the emotions it ignites within me I believe they will have true chemistry and be phenomenal.
That’s a wrap…
As you can see each of these movies lean towards a more serious tone incorporating the Drama Genre, so I may have to make sure to watch some comedies in between each of these movies to give myself a happiness boost. I can’t comment too much on these films based of their trailers alone so I just hope they live up to the stories depicted in their trailers and the reviews of critics who have watched them. I am truly looking forward to watching each of them and I might come back with some reviews for them if any of you would be interested in something like that? Let me know in the comments.
