January Wrap Up & Favourites!

Hey Book Lovers!

It’s officially the end of the month which means Wrap Up Time!
I’m not sure how I feel about January being over, the month seemed both to drag and go so fast at times. In terms of how I thought January went, I think the month went great for me. I had some bad moments with my anxiety but overall right now I feel happier.
I’m getting so much better on not pressuring myself in my university work, blogging and reading and I hope it continues.

Here’s what the month held for me…

BOOKS READ

All Reviews are Spoiler Free

Dear Martin by Nic Stone| Review
Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo | Review
Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare |Review
Batman Nightwalker by Marie Lu | Review
The Amateurs by Sara Shepard | Review Scheduled
The Thousandth Floor by Katharine McGee | Review Scheduled

I read 6 books this month?! Which I think is really good considering two of which were over 500 pages and I had my reading for university alongside these. I’m so happy that I’m starting to tick off books of my TBR of books I own. 4 of these were off that list. Dear Martin and Batman Nightwalker were both new releases.

Stephanie @adventuresofabibliophile wrote 10 Reasons You Should Read Whatever You Want

This post was so timely for me, I promised myself that for 2018 I wouldn’t pressurize myself to read the popular books. This was a great reminder to read whatever I wished without worrying about other people’s thoughts, statistics etc.

Marie @drizzleandhurricanebooks wrote My Book Blogging Essentials

Marie’s post on her Book Blogging essentials is great for both beginner and those who have been here a while. I liked reading how our styles differ in essentials and what other tips I could pick up to help me out with my blogging.

Kelly @anotherbookinthewall wrote Lets Talk About Unique Character Names

This was such an interesting discussion from Kelly and one I haven’t seen discussed before on a blog. It prompted me to realize that for me, names are important. If I struggle to say a name then it can make me lose interest in a book because I get so annoyed not knowing the name.

MUSIC

I never usually include a music section in my wrap ups but this month I have felt so inspired by the music I have been listening to.

greatest showman.jpg

I have yet to see The Greatest Showman Movie but I was listening to some of the music online and THIS SOUNDTRACK IS PHENOMENAL!
It’s so good, so catchy and the music really lifts me up. It makes me feel like I’m going to have a great day.
Some of my favourites are; This Is Me | Rewrite the stars | The Greatest Show

Pixl

I have also been listening to the Pixl Radio on Youtube | Pixl do so many great remixes but they also do a 24/7 radio which is just pure music. I have come across so many amazing songs from this. It is mainly a Pop and Dance Music station.

So there we have it. How many books did you read this month? What were some of your favourites?

  1. I still really want to read Dear Martin. It’s been on my radar for so long!
I think I’ve read a similar amount of books this month, but they varied heavily in terms of length and I made a decision to not review everything I read a long time ago hahaha
The music is truly the best thing about The Greatest Showman! I got goosebumps with almost every song. I thought the movie itself was sweet, but the CGI was terrible. However, it did have a lot of heart. They glorified the people this is based on for sure, but it was very entertaining and the Zendaya/Zach thing almost had me in tears.

    1. I need to see the actual movie so bad, can’t wait for it to come out on DVD so I can! By then I will know all the words to every song (pretty close now) I hope you manage to get to pick up Dear Martin soon, would love to hear your thoughts. It’s smaller than THUG in terms of length, I was surprised it wasn’t longer to be honest!x

I can’t wait to see The Greatest Showman – I haven’t listened to the soundtrack yet as I don’t want to spoil myself, but I’m so hyped!

    1. Thank you Michelle! When you do listen to the soundtrack then you need to watch the youtube video of the actress practicing This Is Me. Just at a table read sort of thing but it will hit you. The emotion in that video is so strong!x
