Hey beautiful book lovers!
Today I am going to be doing the Unpopular Opinions Tag, I wasn’t tagged by anyone to do this I just really wanted to do it myself. I suck at doing tags when I’m actually tagged in them but I am going to try to be better and actually do them.
I really like this one because it’s interesting to see what things other people don’t like or views they have that aren’t considered popular.
Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell. For me I just wasn’t a fan of this book, I have read other books by Rainbow Rowell such as Eleanor and Park and Landline and enjoyed them but this one I just wasn’t a fan off. I had such high hopes because their was so much hype for this but I skipped half of the bits with Simon Snow because I found them boring and I was left feeling disappointed. I pretty much had to force myself to finish it.
Please don’t throw things at me*
I can’t really think of a book series everyone hates? There is a few I have heard mixed reviews about such as Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard which I adored and I’m currently reading the Throne of Glass series which I’m loving so far. If I was going to go old school then I would say Twilight, everyone seems to dislike that one now but for me it got me into reading and will always have a special place in my heart.
I think I’m really lucky here because I’ve not had a love triangle where the Main Character doesn’t end up with the guy I want them too? Twilight I was always Team Edward, The Hunger Games I was always Team Peeta, Harry Potter I was always for Ron and Hermione, ACOTAR – Team Rhysand and so forth. As you can see I always tend to root for the couple that ends up together.
Horror and paranormal I hate horror, I like to read crime thrillers but horror and paranormal just don’t work for me. I’m not into Ghosts or anything like that.
No not Lara Jean. I liked Lara Jean, I wouldn’t say their necessarily popular but her sisters Kitty and Margot. I really didn’t like either of them, I found Margot to be overbearing and Kitty was so annoying.
Maggie Stiefvater and specifically her The Raven Boys series. I really struggled to get into The Raven Boys and since reading it I’ve had no desire to move on to the rest in the series. I had such high hopes because this series is so loved and hyped but for me I almost DNF it, I liked Gansey and Blue but I was way past 60% into the book before I felt like I was into it.
The Love Triangle. I mean I love a bit of angst and tension but I’m getting fed up of reading Love Triangles in every single book series, can a girl not just like the one guy instead of having the good and bad guys to choose from? I think it’s overdone these days.
Ransom Riggs – Home for Peculiar Children. When I first saw this and read reviews I thought I would give it ago but now time has gone on and I really have zero interest in reading it. I saw the trailer for the movie which just hammered home to me that I don’t think this would be one for me or one I enjoyed.
The Hunger Games series by Suzanne Collins. I really liked the books, I even wrote my dissertation on Katniss Everdeen but having reread them so much for my dissertation research I’ve found I actually prefer the movies! Shocker I know. I think the movies are one of the best adaptations I have ever seen and they are done so well.
So there we have my Unpopular Opinions… Please don’t hate me! Let me know in the comments what your unpopular opinions are and if you do the tag be sure to send a link to me so I can see your post!
I can not get in to Maggie Stiefvater either! I really struggled to read Scorpio Races.

I haven’t read that one myself so may have to give it ago or add it on the list to try. See if it’s all her writing or just this one I wasn’t a fan off!

I totally agree with you for the Hunger Games! I found the movies to be significantly better than the books (well, the first book was better than the first movie…) but still! And I wasn’t a fan of Fangirl either. To be completely honest, it seems I’m not a fan of Rowell at all.

Thank you for commenting your unpopular opinions too! Honestly whilst I liked her books, I wouldn’t rave about them. I definitely have read better 🙂

I think I may have to do this tag! I’m all about unpopular opinions since I feel like a lot of the time I personally don’t go along with the hype with some books.
I actually have yet to read anything by Rainbow Rowell but I really want to and I was going to start with Fangirl but maybe not anymore. Are there any of her books you’d recommend reading for a first timer?
It’s great that you’ve always agreed with who the main character ends up with in love triangles! Most of the time I just can’t do it I’m always rooting for the other guy haha especially in the examples you listed. I always thought Gale and Katniss would have been great together and the same with Harry and Hermione but I still like the way the ended up regardless.
That’s such a shame you couldn’t get into The Raven Boys! I was actually extremely surprised by how much I liked it since I don’t usually go for those types of books. But since you said earlier you don’t go for paranormal books that may be why since that series is pretty…..paranormal haha!
I’m definitely 100% with you on the love triangles trope, I’m over it as well. It definitely is over done!
Great answers Hannah! 🙂

Thank you Heather! If you do this then definitely let me know so i can check out your answers. Although I will see it on my blogging timeline when I go through it XD.
For Rainbow Rowell then if you want like a cute contemporary than Eleanor and Park but I have also read Landline which I liked but that’s based around adults!
It was tough to decide which Trope I’m over the most because the whole Girl Hating because of a boy is something i’m over with too and also Insta Love!
Thank you for checking out my post! 🙂

Aw I loved reading this! I have an unpopular opinion, I never liked the lead characters in 13 Reasons Why (even though is known as a TV series) and I am terrified of voicing it, I’m sure I’ll get things thrown at me xD xx

Lovely answers, Hannah! I’m actually glad to hear you weren’t such a fan of Fangirl – I only heard fantastic things about this book, everyone is loving it and I’m here…I haven’t read it. I read Eleanor and Park and enjoyed it, but haven’t read that one yet. I don’t know if I will soon, I’m nervous because of the hype. I think now if I ever do I will definitely keep your opinion in mind to lessen my expectations 🙂
I read Miss Peregrine’s and if I liked it, I wasn’t in love with it and I didn’t think it was worth all of the hype…so I can’t be mad at you for letting this one go ahah 🙂
The Hunger Games movies were pretty good, I agree! 🙂

Thank you Marie! The hype can be terrifying, I went in with the hype and I was so disappointed. I think if you do try it then try to go in when you’ve not thought about it for ages and go in with a fresh mind (if that makes sense) and see what you think. So glad your not mad at me about Miss Peregrines! x

Ahhhh, I’m sorry you couldn’t get into The Raven Cycle series. It’s one of my favourites, but I definitely see how it’s not for everyone.

I wanted to like it so much but I just struggled. Perhaps one day I’ll give it another go?

I remember not really liking the Simon and Baz bits when I read Fangirl, so I was hesitant to pick up Carry On … BUT THEN I LOVED CARRY ON! I just want to throw that out there hahaha because in Fangirl, I felt like those snippets came at the most inopportune moments.
Also, I loved Red Queen … but I hated Glass Sword
AND I HATE HORROR TOO! We have so much in common hahaha
I am a little sad about Maggie Stiefvater, but I shall overlook that one, especially since I hated the Peculiar Children series, so I am glad you don’t even have any interest in reading it. Great post!

Thank you Kat! Yaaay i’m not the only one with these feelings for these books!
I honestly wanted to like The Raven Boys so much but I struggled. I will give her other work a try though XD

Wow so I actually agree with all of your answers except one… I kinda like creepy (idk if you can quite call them horror) books!
I loved reading your answers though!

I have too much of an overactive imagination for creepy books, I get such vivid nightmares. Thank you for reading and sharing ❤
