Top Ten Tuesday – Book Dad’s!

Welcome Back to Top Ten Tuesday. Well Wednesday because I really wanted to do this but I also wanted to get my review up for Love & You by Gretchen Gomez. So this is a day late but Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme set up by The Broke and the Bookish. This week’s topic is a Father’s Day freebie so I decided to do my TOP 10 Book Dad’s! 

Firstly can I just start this off my saying, this was surprisingly really hard. I read a lot of YA and parent’s aren’t usually around in the books I read or if they are they are the reason in which the protagonist wishes to escape. Therefore this post will have a few from the same series rather than 10 different books!

The first 5 I have are all from J.K Rowling’s Harry Potter series.

1. Arthur Weasley
2.  Sirius Black
3.  Professor Lupin
4. Hagrid
5. Dumbledore

Whilst not all of these are actually father’s themselves, I had to include all 5 on the list because throughout the book series they have each fathered Harry or the others in a number of ways. Of course Arthur Weasley is the ultimate dad with his caring nature, funny ways and all out greatness.

6) Carlise Cullen (Twilight – Stephanie Meyer)
7) Charlie Swann (Twilight)

Twilight. A Series I used to love so much and I haven’t read or watched in sooo long. Carlise and Charlie most definitely have to make the list though. Whilst Charlie is nervous around Bella he is so loving and just wants what is best for her. Carlise too has taken all of his ‘children’ in and looks after each and every one of them, making sure they are kept in line and ultimately survive in their new life as vampires.

8) Michael Lancaster (The Fault in our Stars – John Green)

Whilst he doesn’t feature too much in the book, Michael is such a great dad. The picture above is one moment which makes me love him more.

9) Big Mav ( The Hate U Give – Angie Thomas) 

I read The Hate U Give last week (Review to come up soon) and Big Mav is Starr’s father and boy did I love him. Whilst he wasn’t always present due to being in prison, he turned his life around for his family. He’s stubborn, loving, funny and family is his number one.

10) Luke – Mortal Instruments by Cassandra Clare

I’m talking about book Luke here but also I suppose Luke from Shadowhunters and Luke from City of Bones the movie. Luke isn’t really Clary’s dad but he loves her and is always there to protect her.

Honourable Mention from a TV Show – Sherriff Stalinski from Teen Wolf

I love Sherriff Stalinski as much as I love Stiles. He’s consistently funny throughout the TV Show with his facial expressions and annoyance at Stiles. He did his best to raise Stiles when his wife died and he deserves to make this list.
