Summer Reading Plan

Hey Guys!

Guess who’s back?! Gosh how I have missed my blog, reading and talking to you guys. As you know I have been on a hiatus so that I could concentrate on finishing up third year and as of the other day (16th) I am officially done with my undergraduate degree. *Cue Tears* This means this will be my first summer I can read freely without having a big reading list to get done before September. I’m not entirely sure what I’m going to do with my life now. I guess I’ll decide after graduation but I do have a reading plan!

Whilst finishing up my essays and spending 99% of my time in my bedroom writing away, I realised the sheer amount of books I have on my bookshelves which I still haven’t read and I need to pick them up. Therefore this summer is project read the books I own!

Re-read

Harry Potter Series by J.K Rowling – I am determined to reread this series hopefully all the way through in one swoop for the first time. As you know I finally finished the series this year and read the final two books but I had read the others the year before so I would love to give it a marathon! Also the 20th Anniversary for Philosophers Stone is June 26th which means it definitely must be done! I have some exciting posts planned for this!

First Reads

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them Screenplay by J.K Rowling – I’ve seen the film and really enjoyed it so I can’t wait to give the book a read to see if it differs in any way!

The Hate You Give by Angie Thomas – I have heard tons of amazing things about this book and I can’t wait to give it a read. I get very passionate about civil rights and the black lives matter movement and I can’t wait to read how Angie Thomas articulates this.

A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J. MAAS – Oh boy. Can I get a pat on the back for not picking this up as soon as it arrived at my door? I mean everyone knows how much I love Rhysand. I can’t wait to read this third installment. I feel like I should re-read ACOTAR and ACOMAF before I pick it up because I can’t remember exactly what happened?  To those who have read this would you suggest I do that?

Crooked Kingdom by Leigh Bardugo – Fadwa at @wordwonders introduced me to the world of Six of Crows and I loved it so much. I still need to pick up this sequel. I don’t want it to end though so I’ve sort of been putting it off. I need more!

Ember in the Ashes by Sabaa Tahir – Another one which has been sat on my bookshelf for so long. The cover is what drew my into buying it and I have heard amazing things so this one definitely needs to be picked up this summer.

A Daughter of Smoke and Bone by Laini Taylor – I have yet to read any book by Laini Taylor. Where have I been living? Under a giant rock I know. I’ve heard mixed reviews about this series but its been sat on my bookshelf for so long now I definitely want to pick it up for myself to see what it is about.

There are a few of the books I want to definitely try to get round to this summer. I shamelessly have tons more on my bookshelf that are yet to be read as well so the list is pretty high. What are you planning to read this summer? Let me know in the comments or if you have read any of the books on my list. Let me know what you thought!

I’ve missed you!

  1. Ember in the Ashes is also on my TBR for this summer! I’ve owned a copy of it for so long but just haven’t gotten around to reading it. There’s been a lot of hype surrounding it in the blogging and booktube worlds, so I’m really interested to finally see what the buzz is all about!
Also, congrats on finishing your degree soon! 🙂

  2. Hi Hannah, welcome back – so happy to have you back here 🙂 Congratulations on finishing your degree! How many years of studies do you have left, if I can ask? 🙂
I’m very eager to read The Hate U Give as well, there is so much hype around that book and I feel like I would LOVE it.
I haven’t read any book by Laini Taylor either you are NOT alone ahah – it’s something I want to change just as well, all of her books have high praise 🙂

    1. Thank you Marie! I have finished completely now, I was at university for 4 years. Unless I decide to do a masters somewhere else for another year then I am done forever 🙂 I’m so glad that i’m not the only one not to have read any of Laini Taylor’s work yet. Definitely going to be a summer of catching on on a bunch i’ve been putting off!

      1. Ohhh yay, that’s great! Both exciting and a little bit scary for you then, I’m guessing? If you ever need to talk or rant about it all, I’ve finished my studies last year so I know what it’s like 🙂

      2. Thank you Marie! I definitely will end up taking you up on that, I have results coming in next week I think and in a few days and i’m so nervous!! I just don’t know what to do now im finishing up, I’m not sure what job I want either and my parents are just like ‘if you don’t go back for a masters then you need a full time job.’ I have a part time job now which is essentially full time hours now anyway and I definitely want to leave there but it’s like where to?! See i’m already ranting to you! XD

      3. Haha well feel free to rant away – I know how complicated it is and I feel so lost at times even if I have a job now. I definitely think it’s important to try and think about what you really would like to do and try to reach for it, see whether or not you’d need a masters for it, and so on. I’m always here for your rants 😀 ❤

      4. Thank you lovely! I would love a job in publishing but don’t want to move to London which where most of the big companies are. I’ve definitely got to have a think 🙂 Thank you for your advice!

      5. OH I get your struggle. Working in publishing would be a dream for me but I can’t move to my capital either – I would hate living there. I hope you’ll figure things out and I’m always here if you want to talk about it all 🙂

  3. I’m so happy you’re back… and CONGRATS on your degree!! I also want to read two of those soon but my priority is ACOWAR. The only reason I haven’t started it yet it’s because I know I won’t be able to enjoy it so much with having to work and not being able to read as much as I can. Good thing I’ll have a week off from the 27th to the 3rd so I’ll be able to dive into it 😀

    1. Thank you so much! I have missed everybody so much. Oo yes I understand completely. I hate having to stop a book to go to work and then when you take it to work for your lunch break and your break ends it’s like NOO! Are you going to dive straight into that one or are you re-reading ACOTAR and ACOMAF first?

      1. I think I may have to do that as well. I’ve got so many books I want to read and as you say with work there’s not much time to keep rereading all these series!

  4. Welcome back, Hannah!

Harry Potter was the series that got me into reading and it’s been many years since my last reread of it. I’ve been telling myself to reread it again but there’s already so many good books on my TBR shelf that I haven’t read so I can’t quite justify returning to that world just yet, haha. But I do wish you successful with your planned marathon. XD

Ugh, I have ACoWaR already but I still haven’t opened it yet. -___-

And yes! It makes me happy to see CK on here. The SoC duology is fabulous. I hope you love the second installment as much as the first. It’s great.

    1. Thank you Summer! I definitely want to give it a re-read but like you say I’ve been struggling to justify it when there’s so many books on my shelf I haven’t even picked up once yet. I have already started reading some books off my shelf though so i’m on my way there! 🙂 Thanks for reading!

  5. Congrats on finishing your degree, Hannah ♥♥ I really want to reread the Harry Potter series because it’s been way too long. I also need to read Crooked Kingdom and The Hate U Give! I quite enjoyed Daughter of Smoke and Bone and the Fantastic Beasts script so I’m looking forward to seeing what you think of those.
