Or perhaps in Slytherin,
You’ll make your real friends,
Those cunning folk use any means,
To achieve their ends.
Today’s post is going to be something new!
Firstly I want to clarify that this post is not sponsored or endorsed by Regal Rose or any other brand. I simply loved what I found on the website and found inspiration for a post and wanted to share!
The Story behind the post…
I was recently checking my email when I saw I had one from the Jewellery Site Regal Rose. I adore this website and regularly pour over it to check out their jewellery. The email they sent me is what struck my inspiration bug to make an appearance as it was celebrating St.Patricks Day therefore showcasing their wonderfully green items. When I saw some of them I couldn’t help but think Slytherin so I decided I wanted to do a ‘Book Look’ of sorts by doing a post on ‘Fashion for a Slytherin’.
The wonderful Reg over at She Latitude regularly does Book Looks and I recommend checking out her page and those posts because they are beautiful! She has a real eye for fashion and its particularly interesting to see she gets fashion and books to come together in one style.
Draco Malfoy, Bellatrix Lestrange, Tom Riddle, Severus Snape
Some of the alumni from Slytherin’s house. Some good, some bad. When creating this post Fashion for a Slytherin, I had one occasion in mind. The Yule Ball therefore I wanted to create a fashion post linked to the ball theme.
Here is what I came up with…
For this look I found this beautiful dress on the American website Prom Girl. You have the option of other colours but of course I went with the emerald-green and black which I think looks gorgeous and 100% suited for a Slytherin.
The shoes I found on google images because I was struggling to find an image which matched the picture I had in my mind. My chosen image represents it perfectly however I cannot find the designer of this particular shoe however Christian Louboutin once made some similar with a ribbon design. In terms of why I chose this type of shoe itself – I thought the black ribbon would contrast perfectly with the dress for this look. Also the Ribbon style is very much in trend right now as showcased by Rihanna’s latest Fenty Puma Collection.
Now the Jewellery, the items which inspired this post…
Snake Crystal Choker | – This item is named ‘A DARK LURE. Snake & Labrodorite Gemstone Chain Choker’ . Isn’t it absolutely gorgeous? The snakes of course represent Slytherin House perfectly.
Snake Wrap Ring | This item is named ‘NAIDA. Snake Wrap Ring – Emerald Green’
They also have this ring with a Black Gemstone and a Dark Navy Blue stone. I think the green of course works perfectly for this post. The open mouth of the snake and the size of it reminds me so much of Nagini. I think despite that this isn’t actually based on Slytherin, I think it would make an excellent piece to add to a Slytherin collector or a Dark Arts collector because of its similarities to Nagini.
On another look through the website Regal Rose I found they also feature more items with Snakes! I have included some of the pictures below, aren’t they beautiful? Perfect Slytherin items! I may be currently reading Deathly Hallows so the Harry Potter fandom bug is really in my mind right now so of course I got very excited about it all.
Don’t know what House your in?
Visit www.pottermore.com. This is the official site for all things Harry Potter, you can be sorted into your Hogwarts House, find out your wand, your patronus and more! The quizzes have been written by J.K Rowling herself and once you find out you find our more about who else is in your house and the history behind it.
I recently created an account and got Gryffindor. So I guess we could be natural enemies?
So there we have my first Book inspired fashion post. I hope you like it, let me know in the comments what you think and if you would like to see me do this for the other Hogwarts Houses and perhaps other book series?
