Title: The Longest Ride
Running Length: 2 hours 8 mins
Genre: Romantic Drama
Rating: 10/10
The Longest Ride is a 2015 American Romantic Drama based on the best selling novel by Nicholas Sparks.
The Longest Ride features a young couple, Luke who is a former champion Bull Rider coming back from his recent year long hiatus due to injury and Sophia, a college student about to leave for her dream internship and job in New York. They seem to be two opposites who can’t stop the attraction, as their opposing dreams test their relationship they meet and make a connection with Ira.Who begins to tell them the story of his beloved wife.
This movie is truly an exquisite and beautiful story interweaving two love stories from two different eras. Luke and Sophia hold our modern day love story that isn’t too far from the love story of Ira and his wife Ruth. We experience Ira and Ruth’s story via a series of ‘flashback’s, induced by a reading of one of Ira’s past letters to his wife. This element of the film was remarkable as the two interweaving stories flowed freely and easily without leaving the stories broken apart. They were truly as one.
The duration of the film is 2 hours and 8 minutes, which may seem too long to you but it was the perfect amount of time to delve into the story of Ira and Ruth and learn how and if Luke and Sophia will up-stand the tests in their relationship. The Longest Ride is truly a thought provoking and emotional watch, it held an array of elements to make it truly a great movie. There was of course the romantic element showcased in a number of ways through numerous characters, their was tension built up between our two main characters, comedy and heart wrenching sadness. This film is without a doubt an emotional roller coaster, it sure had me crying for the duration.
For any Nicholas Sparks Lover out there, be sure to check out this beautiful love story.
